Clos Vougeot Grand Cru
1996

Burgundy produces the most extravagantly praised wines in the world. The wines are extravagant, even flamboyant. Exposed to the air, Burgundies unfold their complexities assertively...with an authority that earns them the title "King of Wines."

The Jacques Prieur label reads simply Appellation Clos Vougeot Controlee." It is not required to show a commune (village) name. It is among the tiny percentage of wines with the prized designation of "Appellation Controlee." The Grand Cru is the supreme level.

Domain Jacques Prieur rests in the Cote d'Or section of the Burgundy region. The wines are scarce and expensive, and can only become more so in the face of everincreasing demand.

TASTING NOTES

Among the best wines from the estate are Clos de Vougeot. These are wines exhibiting deep, ruby colors. Flavors: Spicy, new oak, vanillin. Round, attractive. Peak maturity: six years.
