Schedule of mainstage performers.
From the opening of the festival gates on Friday morning at 8:00 to the closing of the same at noon on Monday, the three-day event provides basic camping accommodations under the shade of old oak trees. Rounding out the camping fare, a variety of diverse food concessions are available. From Vittles and Fiddles, a breakfast cafe with live music, to gourmet pizza late at night, the food is ever present.
Adding to the fun of the mainstage music is a collection of arts and crafts booths, music workshops, fireside jamming, and a rowdy barn dance on Friday night. And for those late-night folks, Hot Licks Cafe opens at 11:00 Saturday night with a great jam session.
A variety of daytime activities for small children, from storytelling to a major talent show, give the youngsters not so interested in the mainstage music something to do while their parents sit back and enjoy the show beneath the shade of a towering oak. At night for those teens more interested in mingling than listening, a variety of activities are available for their entertainment. And for the little ones who would rather sleep than anything else, the festival provides a quiet tent with caring adults to watch over them, so their parents can relax and enjoy music under the stars.
While all this is going on, AKORN Radio, our solar-powered, on-site station, broadcasts live to keep everyone aware of all that is unfolding inside the festival gates throughout the three days.
The focus of the Live Oak Music Festival is, of course, the mainstage performances. With musicians from all over the United States and across the globe performing, this hub of the festival is the gathering place for everyone to hear and see some of the finest entertainers anywhere do what they do best--play music. From Bluegrass to Zydeco, and touching most all genres in between, the mainstage provides cultural entertainment and education. The music on the mainstage is engineered by a top- notch crew, so the sound is second to none for an outdoor venue.
The Live Oak Music Festival is held at Live Oak Camp, about twenty minutes west of Santa Barbara. Nestled in the river valley that feeds Cachuma Lake, the site is filled with old oaks that provide restful shade and pristine beauty.
The temperate climate, the shady oaks, the early summer setting, and the slow-moving pace create a pastoral backdrop for relaxing and listening to great music with family and friends. It's hard to imagine a better way to kick off the lazy days of summer.
All Live Oak Music Festival proceeds go directly to supporting KCBX Public Radio.
